| Will the duo be loud enough for my event? | The flute and harp can carry in large spaces particularly if the acoustic is good (fewer soft furnishings.) We would suggest amplification if numbers are over 100. We can also add other musicians for a fuller sound. |
| I’m having a small intimate event, will the duo be too loud? | No! We can play very quietly to enhance any occasion. Our smallest booking was for 2 people. |
| What would I need to provide? | Two chairs please. We don’t need any power (unless we are using amplification )and so can play just about anywhere. We have had bookings on boats, in castles & palaces, outdoors, minstrel galleries etc. If booking the concert harp, it’s usually necessary to have lift access to any room upstairs. If the stairs are particularly small then consider asking for clarsach (the smaller Scottish harp). |
| I’m getting married and I would love our favourite tunes to be played. Is this possible? | Probably. We have access to thousands of pieces of music and can advise on creating just the right mood for your ceremony. We can often arrange pieces specifically for you, please ask for costs involved. Some pieces are better suited to the duo than others but we can help with any questions. |
| Is it possible to have your music for our wedding ceremony and also for our drinks reception? | Absolutely, it’s a lovely touch to have live music for both and it helped create a relaxed atmosphere whilst your photos are being done. |
| What kind of music do you play? | All sorts! We have an extensive repertoire of classical, Scottish, film music, jazz and popular. You can specify what you would like us to play or we can do a mix. For example, it can work well to have classical music as your guests arrive and perhaps move through to lighter music as people relax into the evening. |
| What are the costs involved? | Every event is different and we would tailor the booking to your wishes. Please contact us to discuss fees. |
| Why should I book you? | We have years of experience playing for a wide range of events. You would be booking an entirely professional duo of flute and concert harp (many harpists play only the clarsach and this limits the repertoire that can be played.) We can offer bespoke programming in order to tailor our performance to your needs or you can sit back and we will choose appropriate music for you. |
| Can you play outside? | Yes. The harp will need solid ground though and it’s best to have a cover. The instruments are expensive and any moisture will damage them. You should know that the sound and tuning can be compromised outside. |
